AUSTIN, Texas — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
A student-athlete from Garland Sachse High School was granted an appeal for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that this student did not change schools for athletic purposes.
A student-athlete from Edinburg Vela High School and two student-athletes from Keller Fossil Ridge High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous rulings of the district executive committees.
Dallas Roosevelt High School head boys basketball coach Ivory White was issued a public reprimand and two years probation.
Former McKinney Boyd High School head girls soccer coach Sammy Covey was issued a public reprimand and three years probation to begin when future UIL member coaching employment begins. He will also be required to appear before the State Executive Committee prior to future UIL member coaching employment.
