FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX— Two students were granted varsity eligibility, sanctions were handed down and an appeal was denied as a result of decisions made by the State Executive Committee of the UIL Wednesday.
Two student-athletes from Klein Oak High School were granted eligibility for varsity athletics after the State Executive Committee ruled that they did not change schools for athletic purposes.
Mount Enterprise High School Athletic Director Louie Johnson was given a public reprimand and one year probation for violating Section 1201 (b) (1), participation in non-school activity by personnel. Additionally, Mount Enterprise High School football coach Jim Thompson was given a public reprimand for the same offense.
In other action, the State Executive Committee upheld a previous District Executive Committee ruling that required Houston Westside High School to forfeit ten wins from the 2006 football season and one win from the 2007 football season for allowing an ineligible player to participate.
