AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to determine eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for possible UIL rules violations
A student-athlete from Giddings High School was not granted varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that this student did change schools for athletic purposes.
Sweeny High School Basketball Coach Benard Flores was issued two-years probation, a public reprimand, and additional training for his ejection from a contest while on probation from a previous ejection.
Quitman High School Head Boys Basketball Coach Cody Wilson, Waelder High School Head Boys Basketball Coach Stephen Austin, and Manor New Tech High School Head Girls Basketball Coach Joseph Morgenroth were denied an appeal of an ejection and were issued a one-year probation, a public reprimand, and additional training.
