AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to determine eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for possible UIL rules violations.
A student-athlete from San Antonio MacArthur High School was not granted varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that this student did change schools for athletic purposes.
Saint Jo High School Boys Basketball Coach Ryan Bruce was issued an additional two-game suspension, one-year probation, public reprimand, and additional training for his ejection from a contest while on probation from a previous ejection.
Fort Bend Hightower High School Boys Soccer Coach LaMan Thomas was issued an additional two-game suspension, one-year probation, public reprimand, and additional training for his ejection from a contest while on probation from a previous ejection.
Channelview High School Boys Soccer Coach Joshua Velasquez was denied an appeal of an ejection and was issued a one-year probation, a public reprimand, and additional training.
