FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Thursday to determine eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for possible UIL rules violations.

Former McAllen Rowe Head Basketball coach Jose Yebra was issued a three year suspension from all UIL activities, two years probation after reinstatement, and a public reprimand for School Violations involving recruiting.

The McAllen Rowe Athletic Department was issued two years probation, additional training, and a public reprimand.

After hearing testimony, Frisco Heritage High School’s appeal was denied and its forfeiture of seven boys varsity soccer games for using an ineligible player was upheld.

A student-athlete from San Augustine High School was suspended from all UIL activities for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year and the entire 2024-25 school year for violation of Section 50 (a)(3) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules: prohibiting interaction with a sports official.

A student-athlete from Corrigan-Camden High School was not granted varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that this student did change schools for athletic purposes.
