AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Tuesday to determine eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for possible UIL rules violations.
A student-athlete from Omaha Pewitt High School was not granted varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that this student did change schools for athletic purposes.
Geronimo Navarro Junior High School Basketball Coach Darrin Powers and Fort Bend Clements High School Soccer Coach Landren Hines were both denied an appeal of an ejection and were issued a one-year probation, a public reprimand, and additional training.
Boys Ranch Middle School Basketball Coach Dirvaun Sims was denied an appeal of an ejection and was issued a one-year probation, a public reprimand, and additional training. He was also issued a two-game suspension for failure to complete preseason certification training before the start of the season.
