AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Thursday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
Palestine Westwood High School Head Football Coach Richard Bishop was suspended from all football activities for the remainder of the 2024 football season. Bishop was also placed on probation for the remainder of the 2024-25 academic year, as well as the 2025-26 academic year. Bishop was also issued a public reprimand.
Palestine Westwood employee Don McCoy was suspended from all UIL activities for the 2024-25 academic year and was issued a public reprimand.
Student-athletes from Buda Johnson High School, Texarkana Liberty-Eylau High School, and Holliday High School were denied an appeal for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committee.
