AUSTIN, TX — The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met for an emergency hearing Friday to address potential UIL rule violations that could impact the boys conference 4A state soccer playoffs.
After hearing testimony, it was determined that Progreso High School allowed an ineligible player to participate. The hearing officer found that Progreso High School did not determine the student’s eligibility through the appropriate process and allowed the student to participate in soccer games throughout the season. Per the UIL Constitution & Contest Rules, the minimum penalty for allowing an ineligible player to participate is forfeiture of the contest in which they participated. As a result, Progreso’s state semifinal opponent Salado will advance to the boys conference 4A division I state final game.
