AUSTIN, TX – Two appeals brought before the State Executive Committee of the UIL were denied on Wednesday by unanimous decisions. Two coaches were also issued penalties for violation of section 1208 (j) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules.
Students from Euless Trinity High School and D’Hanis High School had their appeals to regain varsity eligibility denied by the State Executive Committee. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, the committee ruled that the students will remain ineligible for varsity athletics for the remainder of the school year for changing schools for athletic purposes.
In other action, Turkey Valley High School football coach Bret Tyler was issued a public reprimand and one-year probation for his ejection in a varsity scrimmage. Additionally, Fredericksburg High School volleyball coach Jason Roemer was issued a public reprimand and one-year probation for his ejection from a varsity match.
