FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX - Two students were granted eligibility while penalties were issued to a coach and a school as a result of the rulings made by the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League Thursday.
A student athlete from North Crowley High School was granted eligibility when the committee overturned a previous ruling of the District 4-5A Executive Committee. Additionally, the committee overturned a District 20-5A Executive Committee decision ruling a Fort Bend Elkins High School student athlete ineligible. Both students are now eligible for varsity athletics at their respective high schools.
Iola High School coach Rancy McDougald was issued a reprimand and a one-game suspension to be served next football season for physical contact with a game official.
In a case referred by the District 17-4A Executive Committee, Marlin High School was given a one-year suspension in soccer for failure to participate in that sport.
