FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX – Three appeals brought before the State Executive Committee of the UIL were denied on Wednesday, and penalties were handed out to four coaches in violation of UIL rules.
Students from Frisco High School, Orange Grove High School and Sonora High School will remain ineligible for varsity athletics for the remainder of the 2008-09 school year after the State Executive Committee denied their appeals for reinstatement. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that each student athlete changed schools for athletic purposes.
In other action, San Antonio Fox Tech High School track coach Harvey Hardeman was issued a public reprimand, one-year probation and suspension from two track meets for allowing ineligible students to participate in varsity track meets.
Robinson High School volleyball coach Catherine Reeves was given a two-year probation while assistant coaches Yolanda Beasley and Lisa Houle were put on probation for one year for violation of sections 1206 (f), 1206 (k) and 1330 (b) (2) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules. Also, all three coaches were issued a public reprimand for the violations.
