AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League issued penalties to coaches and handed down decisions on the eligibility of student-athletes on Monday.

Two student-athletes from Houston Stratford High School were denied their appeals for varsity eligibility upholding the previous rulings of the District 18-5A Executive Committee. Additionally, a student-athlete from Olton High School was denied their appeal for varsity eligibility upholding the previous ruling of the District 6-1A Executive Committee. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athletes changed schools for athletic purposes.

A Houston Yates High School student-athlete was granted eligibility for varsity athletics after the committee ruled that the student did not change schools for athletic purposes.

In other action, Ricardo Middle School coach Felix Munoz and Grapevine Middle School coach Doug Eason were issued a public reprimand and placed on one-year probation each for violation of section 1208(j), ejection from a contest. Additionally, North Mesquite High School coach Michael Chad Lanier was issued a public reprimand and placed on two-years probation for his ejection from a contest.
