FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League decided the eligibility of student athletes and issued penalties for violations of UIL rules on Tuesday.

Former Katy Morton Ranch High School coaches Scott Svendsen and Jeremy Orsagh were issued public reprimands, placed on three-years probation and suspended from coaching for three years in the Texas Public School System for violation of UIL rules. Additionally, Katy Morton Ranch High School was issued a public reprimand and placed on two-years probation.

Student-athletes from Lubbock Estacado High School, Spring High School, Chisum High School and Plano West High School will remain ineligible for varsity athletics after the previous rulings from District Executive Committees were upheld. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athletes changed schools for athletic purposes.

In other action, the following coaches were issued a public reprimand and placed on one-year probation for violation of section 1208(j), ejection from a contest:

  • San Antonio Southside High School coach Robin Shapiro
  • Austin Johnson High School coach Ron Blow
  • Clint – East Montana Middle School coach Victor Guevara
  • Kilgore – Laird Middle School coach Monty Miller
  • Salado High School coach Jeanette McKinney
  • El Paso Eastwood High School coach Octavio Castellanos
  • Frisco Wakeland High School coach Patrick Kennedy
  • Fayetteville High School coach Jason Woodall
