FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League handed down decisions on the eligibility of student-athletes and issued penalties to coaches for violations of UIL rules on Wednesday.

Student-athletes from Lago Vista high School and Allen High School were denied their appeals for varsity eligibility upholding the previous rulings of the district executive committees. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athletes changed schools for athletic purposes.

Former Eustace High School coach Shannon Davidson was issued a public reprimand and suspended from coaching for three years for violation of Sections 51(a)(5), 1200(f) and 1201 of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules.

Houston Cypress Ranch High School coach Gene Johnson was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for two years for violation of Sections 51(a)(8) and 1478(b)(4)(B) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules.

Boerne Champion High School coach Charles Foster and Pilot Point High School coaches Juan Silva and James Karcher were issued public reprimands and placed on probation for one year after the committee denied their appeals for violation of Section 1208(j), ejection from a contest.

In other action, the State Executive Committee overturned the ejection of San Antonio MacArthur High School coach Thomas Alfieri granting his appeal for violation of Section 1208(j) of the UIL Constitution and Contest Rules.
