FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX—All previous forfeits of the San Antonio McCollum High School softball team will stand, as will the forfeits of the Pilot Point High School football and basketball teams after the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League did not grant requests of the exception to the automatic forfeiture rule for allowing an ineligible student to participate.

After hearing testimony, the State Executive Committee denied the request from San Antonio McCollum High School to restore the previously forfeited victories of the softball team. The McCollum softball team will have to forfeit all games in which the ineligible student participated.

In the case of Pilot Point High School, the State Executive Committee sent the issue back to the District 6-3A Executive Committee to review and consider additional evidence that was presented at Tuesday’s meeting. The State Executive Committee did not rule on the request to restore the previous forfeits of the football and basketball teams because the circumstances did not fit the criteria for the exception to the automatic forfeitures rule. Instead, the District Executive Committee was given the charge to re-examine the case and determine the length of the ineligibility of the student.
