AUSTIN, TX— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League issued penalties to coaches for violations of UIL rules and handed down decisions on the eligibility of student-athletes on Monday.
Coach Roger Williams from Bastrop High School was suspended for the first five games of the 2013-14 soccer season for being ejected from a contest while on probation. Williams was also issued a second public reprimand and had two years added to his probationary period.
Burleson Centennial High School coach Matt Waldman was denied an appeal to overturn violation of Section 1208(j), ejection from a contest. Waldman was issued a public reprimand and placed on probation for one year.
The Committee issued a second public reprimand and added one year to the probationary period for Fort Bend Ridge Point High School coach Phillip Dober for being ejected from a contest while on probation.
In other action, student-athletes from Buda Hays High School, Longview Pine Tree High School and El Paso Andress High School were denied their appeals for varsity eligibility upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees. After hearing testimony from all interested parties, it was ruled that the student-athletes changed schools for athletic reasons.
