AUSTIN— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Wednesday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties to coaches for UIL rule violations.
Student-athletes from Plainview High School and Farmersville High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees. After hearing testimony from all parties it was determined that the student-athletes changed schools for athletic purposes.
Ganado coach Jimmy Thompson was denied an appeal to overturn an ejection from a contest. Thompson was issued a public reprimand, one-year probation, and will be required to complete additional training.
