AUSTIN— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Thursday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student-athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
Student-athletes from Duncanville, Carrollton Creekview, Littlefield, and Northside Brennan were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous ruling of the district executive committees.
Rice coach Jaquenta Richard’s appeal to overturn an ejection was denied. Richard was issued a public reprimand, one-year probation, and will be required to complete additional training.
William Murphy was issued a public reprimand and a two-year probation to begin upon completion of his additional training required after being ejected from a contest.
Grapeland coach Owen Clifton was issued a public reprimand for violation of rules prohibiting a student-athlete from playing in four basketball tournaments.
Latexo coach Chad Martinez was issued a public reprimand for allowing an ineligible student to participate in basketball games.
