FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
AUSTIN, TX- Two student athletes were granted eligibility for varsity athletics, while two others will remain ineligible due to decisions handed down by the State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League Thursday.
Two Lexington High School student athletes were granted eligibility for varsity athletics when the State Executive Committee of the UIL overturned the previous decision of the District 25-2A Executive Committee. After hearing testimony from all interested parties and reviewing the evidence presented, the State Executive Committee ruled that the students had not changed schools for athletic purposes, and were thereby granted eligibility for varsity athletics.
Conversely, student athletes from Ira High School and Wolfforth Frenship High School will remain ineligible for varsity athletics for the remainder of the school year after the State Executive Committee denied their appeals to overturn previous district executive committee rulings.
