AUSTIN— The State Executive Committee of the University Interscholastic League met Monday to hand down decisions on eligibility of student athletes and issue penalties for UIL rule violations.
Student athletes from Lewisville The Colony High School, La Vernia High School, and Lubbock High School were denied appeals for varsity eligibility, upholding the previous decisions of the district executive committees.
A student athlete from Rockport-Fulton High School was granted an appeal for varsity eligibility. After hearing testimony from all parties, it was determined that the student did not change schools for athletic purposes.
Windthorst High School coach Joe Rackley was ejected from a contest while on probation and was issued a one-game suspension, two years probation, additional training, and a public reprimand.
Temple High School coach Tamarah Sanders was denied an appeal of ejection from a contest and was issued the automatic penalty of a public reprimand, one-year probation, and additional training.
In new business, the committee made an official interpretation of UIL rules related to documentation requirements for foreign exchange student waivers. The State Executive Committee also voted to seek an official interpretation from the Sports Officials Committee on rules related to the registration and assignment of sports officials.
