FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

AUSTIN, TX— Bands from across the state will compete for top honors at the 2008 UIL State Marching Band Contest to be held November 3-4 at the Alamodome in San Antonio.

The Conference 3A bands will compete on Monday, with the preliminaries beginning at 9:30 a.m., and the finals beginning at 7 p.m.  The Conference 5A competitions will be held on Tuesday, starting at 8 a.m. for the preliminaries, and 7:30 p.m. for the finals.

Tickets for the State Marching Band Contest are $14 for adults and $8 for students for each session (prelims and finals). An adult one-day pass ticket, which may be used at both prelim and final sessions the same day, is available for $21. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster or at the gate.

Judges from all over the country that have distinguished themselves as successful marching band directors and administrators will decide the State Champions.

Conference 3A participants include: Gatesville HS, Canton HS, Crystal City HS, Seminole HS, Taylor HS, Port Isabel HS, Argyle HS, Andrews HS, Kennedale HS, Princeton HS, Atlanta HS, Hidalgo HS, Wills Point HS, China Spring HS, Fredericksburg HS, North Lamar HS, Abilene Wylie HS, Burnet HS, New Boston HS and Rio Hondo HS.

Participants in Conference 5A include: Harlingen HS, Austin Akins HS, North Richland Hills Richland HS, PSJA North HS, Spring Westfield HS, Cedar Park Vista Ridge HS, Lewisville Marcus HS, Keller HS, Ft. Bend Clements HS, Richardson Berkner HS, San Antonio O’Connor HS, Conroe The Woodlands HS, San Antonio Churchill HS, Lewisville Hebron HS, Houston Langham Creek HS, Duncanville HS, Keller Fossil Ridge HS, Harlingen South HS, Hurst Bell HS, Spring HS, Austin Bowie HS, Donna HS, El Paso Hanks HS, Cypress Falls HS, Coppell HS, Brownsville Lopez HS, Clute Brazoswood HS, Cedar Park HS, Haltom City Haltom HS, Brownsville Hanna HS, and Austin Westlake HS.
