Due to conflicting documentation from the publisher, the Library of Congress cataloguing, and the author’s official website, the UIL State Office has spoken directly with the author, Patricia McCormick, concerning the genre of her work entitled, "Sold."

The official UIL ruling is that "Sold" is poetry.
